McAnthony’s Studio and Gallery was founded in 1973 by Dr. Eddie McAnthony. Initially, the concept focused on creating special exhibition environments for exceptional African-American artists because they were being virtually ignored by most local galleries. Six years of hands-on renovation of a dilapidated house helped in the recognition that there were other outstanding artists being ignored also. This realization helped Dr. McAnthony to see the need to incorporate cultural diverseness resulting in a multi-cultural studio and gallery.
